Ever wonder how to perform live backup of Linux Virtual Machine or older version of Microsoft Windows operating system such as XP or Windows Server 2000? These operating is non VSS aware operating system and tend to be in “Saved State” when backup. When the VM in Saved State, you will experience minimal downtime to create a snapshot. This is how i achieve “no downtime” when backup Non-Aware VSS Guest VM.
On the Non Aware VSS Guest VM, do remember to “Enable Hot Backup for this Non-VSS Guest VM” in the Altaro Hyper-V Backup.
