Install Veeam Agent for Oracle Solaris

In this post, we are going to look on how to install Veeam Agent for Oracle Solaris (public beta) so we can start to protect this workload.

Veeam Agent for Oracle Solaris is a data protection and disaster recovery solution for machines running Oracle Solaris 9, 10 or 11 on the SPARC architecture and Oracle Solaris 10 or 11 on the x86 architecture. The product provides file-based backup and disaster recovery capabilities.

Veeam Agent for Oracle Solaris offers a variety of features to protect your data. You can create an entire system image backup, back up specific directories with files or individual zones. Backups can be stored in a mounted NFS directory, on a physical tape drive or in a tape library, on an IBM Spectrum Protect (Tivoli Storage Manager) device or a cascaded device.

Before proceeding, make sure you have

For x86 architecture, the installer is
VeeamAgent-8.1.1.12-i86pc.pkg.tar.gz

[Installation]

1. To install, run the installer with root account privileges
2. Unpack tar gz file

tar -xzf VeeamAgent-8.1.1.12-i86pc.pkg.tar.gz


3. Execute the following command

pkgadd -G -d ./VeeamAgent-8.1.1.12-i86pc.pkg




4. One the installation has complete, type "veeam" to start the program
